Big Dumb Buildings will be brought to life as a multi-media album-release event. The event will include visual art, live musical performances and one-night-only live screen-printed items. Come with us to celebrate the greatest legend that never was: Big Dumb Buildings. It all happens from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 22 at MAINSITE Contemporary Art, 122 E. Main in Norman.
Big Dumb Buildings started as a musical art project created by Gregg Standridge and Brian Eads; what began as an absurd and fun bunch of songs created by two friends has grown into a mythology built upon by the artists participating in this event. Musicians Mike Hosty, Michael Bendure (Heartbreak Rodeo), Jeff Richardson (The Empty Bottles) and Danielle Tipton & Ben Carter (S.K. Love) will each play a set incorporating covers of Big Dumb Buildings songs. Visual artists Ellen Moershel, Brian Dunn, and Medeia Starfire will present paintings, prints and photographs reflecting various parts of the band’s identity, creating a sense of place and memory for this fictional band. The goal is to make it feel like Big Dumb Buildings has always been a part of our lives, rich with inspiring history and context.
Those who attend the event will receive a free copy of the album, and an opportunity to have a limited edition printed item made on site! Bring your own T-shirt or tote bag, or buy one for $5!
Big Dumb Buildings was graciously granted the opportunity to share this experience with you through the Norman Arts Council and the generosity of our Kickstarter supporters!
